During the construction of the new Girls' Secondary School in the 1961, the remains of a Roman countryside villa were unearthed. All indications point to an olive pressing structure which combines well with the tradition of Żejtun as an area abundant with olive trees and olive production. The Żejtun Roman Villa is one of the three surviving villa sites in Malta that comprise both a residential and industrial area. In recent times under the Roman Villa ruins find Punic era remains related to wine production.
